Our Humble Beginnings

Herbal Gardens Wellness began as a humble dream on a quiet morning in 2013. Our founders, were a Shinto Priest and Botanist, and a Traditional Athapaskan woman trained by their family and academically degreed as an herbalist with a heartfelt mission to bring natural wellness to their community. Inspired by ancestral teachings and their grandmother's gardens, The Founders wanted to create a place where people could connect with nature and discover the healing powers of herbs.

With a small team of dedicated individuals who shared their passion, Herbal Gardens Wellness was born. Each team member brought a unique skill set to the table. All of us that work as advisors and positions such as our operations manager, are volunteers which is the organizational backbone, ensuring our initiatives run smoothly. Our medical clinician in resident herbalist, crafts innovative remedies rooted in traditional practices. Meanwhile, in several areas of the traditional Athapaskan Territory our community outreach coordinators, engages with local schools and organizations to spread awareness about holistic health.

From day one, our non-profit has been driven by a simple mission: to empower individuals to take charge of their own health. We provide access to premium, ethically-sourced herbal products, offering transparency about the origins and benefits of each herb. Our gardens, forests, and camp locations are a living classroom, which allows visitors to learn hands-on about nature’s pharmacy.

The Founders had a unique journey that led to the inception of Herbal Gardens Wellness. After battling a chronic illness and finding relief through herbal remedies, they decided to share this knowledge with others. Their story is one of resilience and passion, which continues to inspire our team and community members. The Founders’ approach is both scientific and intuitive, combining their formal education in Lifestyle Medicine and naturopathic medicine with the wisdom passed down from their ancestors.

Our non-profit organization also offers workshops and educational resources. By hosting events and open days at our garden, we aim to nurture a supportive community that thrives on knowledge sharing. With topics ranging from herbal medicine making to Native Lifestyle Medicine, our workshops are both informative and transformative.

In addition to our educational pursuits, we are committed to community support. From free health consultations for Tribally Enrolled Citizens from verified Native American, American Indian, Alaskan Native Nonprofit organizations to workshops and seminars for Allied Health and Science Colleges for descendants and NonNative Students, we strive to make wellness accessible to everyone. Our future vision includes expanding our reach to provide more resources and to connect with more communities.

At Herbal Gardens Wellness, we believe that true health comes from a balance of body, mind, and spirit. Our mission is not just about delivering herbal remedies but about fostering a movement towards natural living and community empowerment.
